April 2024
A friend of mine said, “There’s a certain beauty in emotion, the good and the bad.” But…
what’s the beauty in emotion?
is it the capacity to feel?
the body’s ability to respond
in whichever way it wants
to certain events, thought and desires?
are emotions the mind’s wildfires?
flames gushing through the seams of the brain
reckless, careless, endless love
and, above all, pain?
or might the beauty actually exist
in the lack of understanding?
the power to experience sensations
so extraordinarily demanding
sucking the life right out of you
to give just a sliver back the next day
all beautifully confusing enough
to leave you in perfect disarray
